Guide Me Back To Land;

Guide Me Back To Land; by Jess Conran
Guide Me Back To Land; , a photo by Jess Conran on Flickr.

Just another Flickr upload for the archives.

Lighthouses have and always will be one of my favourite things in the world. There is some inexplicable reaction of their imposition over the sea that I am drawn to.

As a rule I am not that big a fan of the man made in my photos; it spoils the beauty of nature - of what should be the only thing there. Lighthouses are the one and only exception to my rule.

I have a shoot planned with a friend coming up so I am looking forward to that.

In other news, I accidentally dropped my camera in the sand and broke my flash so it is in for repair over Christmas - it had to be summer that I broke my camera..

M I X E R

M I X E R by CResende
M I X E R, a photo by CResende on Flickr.
This is an amazing capture, the milky waters, pearly orange horizon. I love it. I can easily say this inspires me to go to the water and attempt to capture the water as cResende has done!

The earth's beauty surrounds us,
we feel, see, hear it,
to capture it is to steal a moment forever.

I am an Impressionist

I am an Impressionist; I trudge through the countryside, chasing light, chasing colours until I capture the truth through my lens.

Natural light is the bane of my existence, I find beauty in truth and natural light sheds all facades.

 **

Together, myself, Sally (model) and Millie had fun walking through the bush to chase where I found the best light and the quaint little creek in the reserve. It is a location I will probably use again at some stage. I had limited options when the clouds began to take my precious sun away. Through the latter part of the shoot I began channeling Bill Henson. His great manipulation of tones and shadows has always enamored me.

Here are my favourites: All natural light, completely edit free.

Playing Me Like a Fruit Machine..

Had a great day today, starting off with the cool breeze of the early morning and sunshine after the past week of rain. A change for the better. My first trip of the day was Giselle's, a friends place, to take some portrait shots. The lighting was great and I got a few good shots that I can use. The purpose of the shoot was to get a portrait that I could enter into Castle Hill Show. Mission accomplished :)

My favourite two shots from today..

The second thing on the agenda today was to find a shooting location. I specifically had an open field where the sun set in the background, making for a great spot for silhouette and natural lighting photos. The golden hour and natural light are seemingly the bane of my existence when I pick up a camera. I also found, or more re-discovered a cute area with a shallow river and bridge where I will start to frequent on a semi-regular basis. Another Mission accomplished :)
